elle's blankie

From the time my kids are little I collect all of their baby pajamas and clothes. I cut squares out of the clothing to later use in a blanket. Elle has been patiently waiting for her own blanket and has been sleeping with her brother's for the past couple of months. Well, this morning I finished sewing Elle's blanket. She is so happy to finally have it!

Hey Sara, I want to make Koby and my 2 girls blankie's for christmas. do you have any good idea's? And how exactly did you do elle's? Just out of pajamas? And then was it the backing?

THat is such a cute idea Sara, I've heard of making blankets out of your kids t-shirts, but I like this idea much better!!! Do you sew??? I would think it would be hard! Gramma sewed beautifully and then it skipped 2 generations going on 3 in our family!! So she must have rubbed off on you!!! I'd love to see the whole thing!

Oh my gosh Sara, this is adorable!! Your kids are so lucky to have you as a mom. I would have never thought of anything as cute as that!

Hi Kacie and Wendy,
Yeah, I sew a little. I have made a couple of dresses, but it is just not really that economically sound to sew rather than buy. So, now I pretty much stick to blankets and stuff like that. For Elle's, I sewed 5in x 5in squares together. Then, I added a foot-wide edge of white fleece around the quilted squares. That made one side of the blanket. I cut a piece of pink fleece out the same size, lay them together. This is the easy part: snip the edges through both white and pink about 3 inches around the entire blanket and tie the strips together. I don't know if that makes sense.
