Disney

We just got back from California. My niece, Phoebe was dancing at California Adventures and we went to watch. We spent two days at the beach and one at Disneyland. They are going through a heat wave in California right now and it was the hottest day I have ever spent at Disneyland. It didn't phase the kiddos, though. They loved every minute of it! Max & Cade

My neice, Sofia, was terrified of the characters! She sat just like this the entire breakfast, convinced that if she was still and kept the napkin over her head, none of them would notice her!

Meet Our Summer Guests...

This is Maggie... (notice the stunned expression on her face...it's permanent!)Maggie has come to join us for the summer...(she is struggling to contain her excitement!)
This is Lollipop...(I think the sparkle in her eye says it all!)
Lollipop has also decided to take up residence at our little abode for the summer...(or residence in elle's arms for the next two months!)
Maggie and Lollipops' mommy and daddy, Hannah and Jake, have wisely decided to flee the heat of the valley for the cool breezes of the Jersey Shore. They have entrusted us with the responsiblity of caring for their two g-pigs (that's what I call them) until August. Lucky for us, Hannah and Jake are blissfully unaware of our history with pets in our home. Actually, I think Maggie and Lollipop will be very happy here. They don't seem to mind participating in the kids' playtime at all... dress-up, pet shop, twister. What piggy-pig (as elle calls them) doesn't like dress-up? Yes, I am sure Maggie and Lollipop will fit in just fine. And...it's been almost five months since an animal has died in our care!

A night with the girls!

Last night, Sam, Jen, and I went to see Sex And The City and then out for dinner and margaritas. With 9 kids between the three of us, it goes without saying that finding time for us all to get together child-free is rare. We had a blast! We have all been friends for a really long time and these girls have been there for me through everything. They were there through every difficult step of my divorce and at my house the morning after my mom died. Thanks for everything. I love you two!

Swim Team

Max started swim team this week. They jumped right into it with the kids. For 45 minutes they swim lap after lap. He loves it even though most of the kids have experience and this is Max's first year. He is doing great and I am so proud of him.

D-day!!

Done With Diapers

After changing diapers for over 7 years, I am finally DONE!! Woo Hoo! Elle is in undies for good. The experience of potty training two boys and enduring the fighting, crying, stupid peeing and pooping parties we had (thanks Dr. Phil), accidents on the floor, imprisonment at home, and all the other joys that accompanied this chore, I came up with a plan...DO NOTHING! Last week I ran out of Pull-ups and was feeling under the weather. Not wanting to run to the store for more, I told Elle we were out and she was going to have to just suck it up and sit on the toilet. Over the last 6 months I have asked her occasionally if she wanted to try. She'd say, "no" and I never pushed. Well, not wanting to pee on herself, she climbed up and...success!! That was it. It has been almost a week and she seems to be completely trained. She even stays dry at night! I have always said that there is nothing about parenting that I dislike with the exception of potty training. I dreaded it with Elle and kept putting it off, which turned out to be the best route to success!
